Fox Valley Chapter 2016 Events

We produce two formal meetings each year -- please mark your calendars for April 17th and a date to be determined in October, and we have informal monthly meetings hosted by our Chapter President, Mike Campagnolo, on the third Saturday of every month.

The monthly meetings are held in a comfortable atmosphere where members can sit down and have a nice conversation with Mike and other members. They will be held in three different locations this year, The Fox Restaurant in Lisle, The American Legion Post 187 in Elmhurst and the Messenger Library in North Aurora. The addresses, dates and times are given in our quarterly newsletters. These newsletters are sent via email to our members, and they are available on our website. Go to Newsletters & Archives.

The newsletters announce other events like patriot grave marking, geneological meetings, etc. Just click on Newsletters & Archives, select the most recent quarterly newsletter, and scroll down to see meeting announcements.

Another informal meeting is held in September at Cantigny in Winfield, IL. The exact date is not yet available. This is during the fantastic Revolutionary War Days -- from 10:00am to 4:00pm -- where reenactors in American and British uniforms camp and stage a Revoutionary War battle. This is an activity for the whole family and is not to be missed.

Photos and details on our events from 2003 to 2015 are available in the Photos & Events section.

  • April 17, 2016 - "Spring Dinner Meeting" - Ashbury's at Boughton Ridge in Bolingbrook

The Social Hour starts at 5:00pm, Dinner at 6:00pm and the Program & Guest Speaker at 7:00pm.

Use the above link for driving directions or this link to learn more about Ashbury's. It is a new facility with a great view of the golf course. We will have a private dinning room. It is easy to find on 335 E. Boughton Road in Bolingbrook (630-739-2377).

Our guest speaker is the amazing Terry Lynch who will be dressed and present as if he were Benjamin Franklin. Last October our members were captivated with Mr. Lynch's memorable first person portrayal of George Washington. Mr. Lynch's method is to recount the person's life and explain key historical events in the first person. The audience was eager to ask him questions and get an authoritative answer in the first person. This is a unique way to appreciate our Founding Fathers and heritage.

Compatriots may want to read the well regarded biography of Benjamin Franklin by Walter Isaacson. This biography was a key reason that Steve Jobs selected Mr. Isaacson to write his bio. Mr. Isaacson explains that Franklin was the first American to be world famous and he created America's culture. Franklin had the greatest scope of our Founding Fathers.

In addition to our speaker, we will presents awards. And, we always present new member certificates.

All SAR, DAR and CAR members and their guests are welcome to attend!!

The cost for the banquet is $38.00 for adults and $20.00 for children under 12:
